Cara Dune takes Migs Mayfeld out of the Karthon prison scrapyard to help locate Moff Gideon's cruiser. His former Imperial service gives the rescuers a way to obtain its coordinates from a terminal on Morak. Din Djarin accompanies him into a rhydonium refinery, leaving his armor behind and wearing an Imperial driver's uniform. They hijack a transport carrying the unstable explosive, but pirates attack before they can reach the installation.
Din fights on top of the moving vehicle while Mayfeld tries to keep the cargo from detonating. Imperial fighters and troops clear their final approach, welcoming the intruders as the only crew to deliver its shipment. Inside, Mayfeld recognizes his former commander Valin Hess and refuses to risk approaching the terminal. Din goes himself. A facial scan forces him to remove his helmet, and Mayfeld intervenes when Hess starts questioning the unfamiliar soldier.
Hess invites them to drink and boasts about Operation Cinder. Mayfeld remembers the soldiers and civilians who died under his command, and shoots him. The pair escape under covering fire from Cara and Fennec Shand before Boba Fett collects them. Mayfeld destroys the refinery during their departure. He tells Din that he never saw his face, offering to keep the breach of his creed private. Cara lets Mayfeld walk free, treating him as dead in the explosion. With the coordinates secured, Din sends Gideon a warning that he is coming for Grogu.
