At the theatre, Jesse tends to Dina and realizes she is pregnant. Ellie returns after confronting Nora and tells Dina what she learned about Abby and why Abby’s group killed Joel. The next morning, Ellie and Jesse leave to find Tommy, but Ellie follows Nora’s clues to an aquarium marked by a whale mural and a nearby Ferris wheel. Jesse argues that Tommy needs their help; Ellie insists on going to Abby, and they separate.
A storm overturns Ellie’s boat, and she washes ashore on an island where Seraphites capture her. A WLF attack interrupts them, allowing Ellie to escape. At the aquarium, she finds Owen and Mel. Owen reaches for a gun, so Ellie shoots him; the bullet also strikes Mel. Ellie discovers Mel is pregnant and is unable to save either her or the baby. Jesse and Tommy bring Ellie back to the theatre, where she and Jesse begin to reconcile.
Gunfire interrupts them. Abby has shot Jesse and holds Tommy at gunpoint. Ellie offers herself and accepts responsibility for what she did to Abby’s friends. Abby says she spared Ellie before and fires; the episode withholds the outcome of the confrontation. It then rewinds three days to Seattle Day One, where Abby wakes in the WLF stadium and leaves with Manny. Her perspective replaces Ellie’s for the closing scene.
