The Flash

Season 9

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Barry and Iris prepare for parenthood while another speedster organizes a series of thefts in Central City. The Red Death is an alternate Ryan Wilder who needs a Cosmic Treadmill to escape this timeline. Barry recruits former enemies to stop her, and the main timeline’s Batwoman helps defeat her. Caitlin’s failed resurrection experiment has meanwhile produced Khione, a new person who insists on living her own life rather than replacing Frost. Joe moves to the countryside, and Chester and Allegra begin a relationship.

Bloodwork returns and possesses Wally, hoping to spread his infection through the newly restored multiverse. Oliver Queen, still its guardian as the Spectre, brings Barry back after Wally kills him and joins the fight long enough to stop Bloodwork. Barry is later transported to the night his mother died. He says goodbye to his parents and becomes the Flash who warned his younger self not to interfere, accepting the loss rather than changing history again.

The Negative Speed Force resurrects Eddie Thawne, whose resentment of Barry makes him vulnerable to its influence. As Cobalt Blue, Eddie brings back Reverse-Flash, Zoom, Savitar and Godspeed against Team Flash. Barry persuades him that the two Forces can coexist, and Eddie destroys the crystal controlling the conflict. Barry returns for the birth of his daughter Nora. Khione ascends to protect the natural world and restores Caitlin’s body to her. After reconciling with Caitlin, Barry shares his power with Avery Ho, Max Mercury and Jess Chambers, continuing as the Flash alongside a new generation of speedsters.
