The Boys follow the V1 records to Fort Harmony, where signs of violence appear before they reach the old military hospital. Inside, an airborne infection intensifies anger until Hughie, Kimiko, Butcher and Mother's Milk begin attacking one another. Frenchie remains unaffected and has to discover why. They also learn that Bombsight has taken the remaining V1, making the danger in the facility an obstacle rather than the answer they sought.
Homelander and Soldier Boy arrive on the same trail, and their existing resentment becomes another fight. Soldier Boy traps Homelander in a uranium chamber that weakens him. Frenchie finds Quinn, a mutated former patient whose presence is spreading the rage-inducing contamination. He draws Soldier Boy into killing Quinn, ending the effect on the others. Soldier Boy's grief over the dead man stops the encounter from becoming a simple victory over the creature they found.
Away from the facility, Annie visits her father and hears his regrets about leaving her. He stands up for her when a colleague threatens to arrest her, giving their strained reunion a chance to end differently. She returns to Hughie and apologizes. Homelander's followers also organize his religious rebranding: Oh Father presents him as the country's prophet through a new church. The man seeking immortality now wants public worship to match the power he already holds.
