Season synopsis

Season eleven opens on Sheldon's proposal, and Amy says yes. Their engagement turns into a long planning exercise as each tries to shape the ceremony, and Sheldon has to make room for Amy's preferences rather than manage every detail himself. Their friends help with the preparations, while other episodes bring Sheldon face to face with family and old rivalries. On the wedding day, a small detail in his bow tie sparks an idea: Sheldon and Amy delay the ceremony to work out a new theory, super-asymmetry, before returning to marry in front of their family and friends, with Mark Hamill officiating.
Howard and Bernadette are already adjusting to life with Halley when Bernadette discovers she is pregnant again. The news catches both of them off guard, and Howard's anxiety about raising a second child grows when he learns they are expecting a boy. Their son, Neil Michael, is born during the season. As they try to divide childcare and paid work, Howard tests whether he can stay home with the children, while Bernadette rediscovers how much she values her career. Their eventual compromise keeps both parents working rather than forcing either to abandon a job.
Raj explores new relationships, including a short-lived romance with Ruchi, and takes a job hosting shows at the Griffith Observatory's planetarium. The move helps him build confidence outside his dependence on Howard's approval, though the friends eventually repair their strain. Leonard and Penny revisit questions about their future after Leonard worries that their married life has stalled; Penny says she wants to take other steps first. By the finale, Sheldon and Amy's wedding has taken place and their newly introduced scientific idea points toward the work that will occupy their final season.
