Season 5

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

Six years after Praimfaya, Clarke and Madi are living in the last green valley when the Eligius prisoners return to Earth. Diyoza’s crew wants the valley for its own settlement, while the survivors from the Ark and the bunker need it to feed Wonkru. Bellamy, Echo, Monty, Harper, Raven, Murphy and the others come down from the ring, bringing old allies into a conflict shaped by years apart. Octavia has kept the bunker’s people alive, but the forced cannibalism of the Dark Year and her rule as Blodreina have left Wonkru divided.

Clarke tries to keep Madi safe and to bargain for a peaceful share of the valley. Diyoza is willing to negotiate, but her lieutenant McCreary takes control and turns the struggle into a battle; he is also revealed as the father of Diyoza’s unborn child. Below the surface, Monty proves that the hydrofarm can grow food again, giving Octavia a way to avoid war. When Wonkru learns she hid that possibility, Octavia burns the farm and leads them toward the valley anyway. Madi takes the Flame and becomes Heda, drawing the clans’ loyalty away from Blodreina.

McCreary launches a missile strike that will destroy the valley, and Clarke kills him by stomping on his head as the survivors race back to Eligius IV. With Earth ruined again, they enter cryosleep. Monty and Harper stay awake, raise their son Jordan, and watch Earth fail to recover. Monty eventually finds another habitable world in the Eligius III mission records and sets the ship’s course. One hundred and twenty-five years after the others went to sleep, Clarke and Bellamy wake to Jordan and the new destination, opening a journey beyond Earth.
