Stargate SG-1

Season 1

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

After the SGC reopens the Stargate, Colonel Jack O’Neill returns to Abydos and reunites with Daniel Jackson, whose cartouche points to a network of worlds. They join Captain Samantha Carter and, after Teal’c turns against Apophis to free them, the Jaffa warrior becomes part of SG-1. Their missions test the new team against the Goa’uld and unfamiliar societies: Carter challenges a warrior culture that treats women as property, Daniel and Teal’c search for a way to save Teal’c’s son Rya’c from the implantation that turns Jaffa children into soldiers, and O’Neill and Teal’c destroy Thor’s Hammer to escape its trap. The season also introduces Cassie, the Tollan survivors and the Nox, whose ability to restore the dead comes with a refusal to wage war.

Daniel continues searching for his wife Sha’re and his friend Skaara, both taken as Goa’uld hosts during the team’s first mission, while Earth’s leadership weighs the secret program’s cost. A mirror sends Daniel to a parallel Earth already under invasion; when he returns with the attackers’ point of origin, Senator Kinsey is still pressing to close the Stargate and bury it. With an attack apparently approaching, Hammond’s order cannot keep SG-1 at home. The team dials the coordinates and finds itself aboard Apophis’s faster-than-expected ship, where his son Klorel controls Skaara’s body. The team prepares explosives aboard the ship, which reaches Earth before they can stop the assault. The season ends at that danger point, before the conflict is resolved.
