Season 7

Season synopsis

Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.

The season begins with Janeway, Tuvok, and Torres still assimilated, while Voyager and the former drones of Unimatrix Zero work to break the Queen’s control. The Queen threatens to release a modified virus that would kill the liberated drones, so Janeway orders Unimatrix Zero shut down to protect them. Voyager and Korok’s Borg sphere disrupt the signal sustaining the refuge, forcing its inhabitants back into the Collective with their memories and individuality intact. They organize a resistance, and Janeway’s team is rescued from the cube as Voyager continues its journey home.

Seven uses holodeck scenarios to explore intimacy and begins a simulated romance with Chakotay. Her emotional experiences threaten her cortical node, and she collapses in “Human Error.” The Doctor offers surgery to remove its fail-safe, but she declines and ends the simulations. Three months later, with her relationship with the real Chakotay developing, she asks the Doctor to perform the procedure. By the finale, they are dating. Tom Paris and B’Elanna Torres also prepare for the birth of their child.

In “Endgame,” an older Admiral Janeway arrives from a future in which Voyager takes sixteen more years to return home. She reveals that Seven dies during that longer journey and Tuvok’s degenerative neurological disease advances beyond treatment. In the present, the Captain learns Tuvok’s condition has begun to progress, but treatment remains available in the Alpha Quadrant. Admiral Janeway equips Voyager to cross a Borg transwarp hub; Captain Janeway chooses to destroy the network as well as get home. The Admiral infects the Collective and dies in the resulting attack. Voyager destroys the pursuing sphere and emerges near Earth, where Torres gives birth.
