Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
The pilot, first presented as The Seinfeld Chronicles, follows Jerry trying to read the intentions of Laura, a woman he met on tour, while his neighbour Kessler wanders into his apartment. Elaine is absent from that pilot, but joins the regular group in the next story: at a party she is still Jerry’s ex, and her presence keeps him from approaching another woman. Jerry’s father Morty suggests a stakeout at her office, where George invents the Art Vandelay importer-exporter cover story.
George offers Jerry a better apartment in The Robbery, and both men try to claim it; Elaine hopes to move into Jerry’s place, but George regrets his offer when Jerry prepares to sign and Elaine gets ready to move. Kramer leaves Jerry’s apartment door open, a thief gets in, and Kramer tries to catch the burglar himself. In Male Unbonding, Jerry tries to end a suffocating childhood friendship, only to feel guilty and reconcile.
The finale, The Stock Tip, gives George and Jerry a shared financial mistake. George follows an insider tip on Centrax and persuades Jerry to invest; when their contact is hospitalized and the price drops, Jerry sells at a loss while George hangs on. Jerry also takes Vanessa to a Vermont bed-and-breakfast hoping to move their relationship forward, but the rainy weekend stalls and she breaks up with him. George later boasts about an $8,000 profit, treats Jerry and Elaine to meals, then shares a tip on a robot-butcher company and takes back an overpayment after checking the bill.
