Lizzie leaves Tommy after Ruby's death and his betrayal with Diana, and Charles chooses to go with her. Tommy proceeds with his final arrangements, including the destruction of Arrow House for a housing scheme. At the emptied house, Duke confronts Billy Grade and kills him after Finn fails the test set before him. Finn is expelled from the family, leaving another conflict unresolved even as Tommy settles older accounts.
Arthur and his allies wait for the IRA attackers in Garrison Lane and kill the people sent against them. On Miquelon, Michael's group prepares a car bomb for Tommy, but Johnny Dogs moves the explosive to the other vehicle. The blast kills the men waiting outside, and Tommy shoots Michael after confronting him over their feud. The opium deal and revenge succeed without ending the wider threat from Mosley and Diana.
Believing himself terminally ill, Tommy withdraws to a caravan and prepares to die. A vision of Ruby directs his attention to a newspaper photograph linking Holford to Mosley's wedding. Tommy realises that the diagnosis was fabricated to make him kill himself. He confronts the doctor but spares him when the clock strikes the hour associated with the Armistice. Returning to find his caravan burning, Tommy rides away alive. His survival closes the immediate deception while the political conflict remains unfinished.
