Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Emma, Mary Margaret, David, Regina, Gold and Hook sail to Neverland to rescue Henry from Peter Pan and his Lost Boys. Pan wants Henry’s heart to restore his youth and Neverland’s magic. The rescuers find allies in Tinker Bell and Wendy, while Neal, who survived his fall through the portal, also reaches the island.
Pan is revealed as Rumplestiltskin’s father, and he trades bodies with Henry before bringing the Dark Curse back to Storybrooke. Rumple restores their bodies and kills Pan, apparently dying with him; he later returns under Zelena’s control. Regina reverses the curse by sending the residents back to the Enchanted Forest. Emma and Henry leave for New York with new memories of a life together. A year later, Hook finds Emma and restores her memories; she returns with him to Storybrooke, where the residents have been brought back under a new curse and cannot remember the missing year.
Regina’s half-sister Zelena, the Wicked Witch of the West, plans to rewrite her past through time travel. Snow cast the new curse to reach Emma, but Zelena added the potion that erased the missing year. Neal dies after helping resurrect Rumple, whom Zelena controls through the Dark One’s dagger. Henry regains his memories through the storybook, and Regina’s kiss breaks the curse. She then defeats Zelena. Rumple apparently kills the imprisoned witch, whose magic opens a time portal. Emma and Hook fall into the Enchanted Forest’s past, disrupt Snow and Charming’s first meeting, then repair their history. Returning home, they bring a rescued prisoner presented as Maid Marian, threatening Regina’s relationship with Robin Hood.
