About the series

In 1609, during Korea’s Joseon era, Do Min-joon arrives from another world and becomes stranded when his attempt to leave fails. He saves a young woman, Seo Yi-hwa, from falling from a cliff, and their brief connection becomes a memory he carries through centuries of changing names and occupations. Min-joon does not age and has heightened senses, speed and other abilities, but repeated exposure to human greed and loss leaves him detached. In modern Seoul he works as a university professor, carefully maintaining a respectable identity. With a comet approaching and a chance to return finally within reach, he has only a few months left when a new neighbor disrupts the life he has kept controlled.
That neighbor is Cheon Song-yi, a famous actress who has been in the public eye since childhood. Her confidence and extravagant celebrity manner often mask how little she knows about ordinary life, while her mother manages her money and her younger brother Yoon-jae keeps his distance from her fame. Song-yi’s longtime friend Yoo Se-mi has spent years in her shadow, often cast in supporting roles despite wanting recognition of her own. Lee Hwi-kyung, a wealthy friend from school, has loved Song-yi for years, though she does not return his feelings. When Song-yi and Min-joon meet as neighbors, his bluntness clashes with her assumption that everyone should accommodate her; their proximity keeps turning irritation into reluctant concern.
A cruise-ship wedding brings the romance into a more dangerous story. Song-yi encounters fellow actress Han Yoo-ra, her professional rival, and notices Yoo-ra’s connection to Lee Jae-kyung, Hwi-kyung’s older brother. Soon afterward Yoo-ra dies, and public suspicion falls on Song-yi, who is blamed for her rival’s death. Reporters crowd her home, her agency and sponsors distance themselves, and the actress who had seemed untouchable loses the work and status that defined her. With nowhere she feels safe, Song-yi takes refuge in Min-joon’s apartment. The arrangement exposes their differences in domestic habits and temperament, while the scandal gives Min-joon a reason to stay close even as he tries to keep emotional distance.
The investigation gradually shows that Yoo-ra’s death is tied to Jae-kyung, whose polished public image conceals a readiness to threaten people who could expose him. Prosecutor Yoo Seok and a police detective pursue the case, but witnesses and evidence become vulnerable as Jae-kyung moves to protect himself. Min-joon’s visions warn him that Song-yi is in danger. On the wedding boat, he stops time to prevent her falling overboard, a rescue she cannot understand through the ordinary rules of her world. He also uses his knowledge of contracts to challenge the agency that abandons her. Becoming her temporary manager puts him beside her in public as well as at home, making it harder to preserve the distance he claims to want.
Song-yi’s resemblance to Yi-hwa unsettles Min-joon, but the present-day actress keeps demanding answers of her own. A kiss later leaves him with a severe fever because contact with human saliva makes him ill. Song-yi tries to nurse him, discovering that the apparently invulnerable man needs help with ordinary things when his powers weaken. Her affection becomes explicit, yet he responds by pushing her away rather than explaining how little time he has left. That refusal hurts someone already dealing with professional rejection. Elsewhere, Hwi-kyung rejects Se-mi’s feelings, and she tells him that Min-joon was the person who rescued Song-yi twelve years earlier. The secret now moves beyond the two neighbors, drawing their old friends into a relationship neither can easily define.
As the danger closes in, Min-joon finally tells Song-yi that he is an alien and that he rescued her years earlier, when she was a child. She initially rejects the explanation, but his powers and the details of the rescue make it impossible to dismiss. Jae-kyung learns that Min-joon’s abilities are weakening and can be turned against him; he manipulates evidence to implicate Min-joon and arranges a sabotaged stunt that sends Song-yi falling. Hwi-kyung reaches her and cushions the impact, leaving both injured. Min-joon confronts Jae-kyung in rage, then changes course: instead of simply hiding, he gives prosecutors information about his identity and evidence connected to Jae-kyung’s crimes. His danger becomes public, and the romance can no longer be separated from the question of whether he can remain on Earth safely.
After Song-yi recovers, she and Min-joon admit their love and begin a relationship with his departure date still approaching. Their ordinary time together matters because staying may kill him: they share family meals, domestic routines and conversations that Min-joon, whose world has no familiar concept of family, has never had. Song-yi’s absent father returns, and Hwi-kyung and Se-mi begin to reconsider what their loyalty to her means. Jae-kyung is exposed and imprisoned after his family refuses to protect him. Min-joon’s powers fail more often, however, and he leaves as the comet’s passage forces their separation. Song-yi resumes her career and waits through years of brief, unpredictable appearances. The final reunion is not an uncomplicated return: Min-joon explains that he has been caught in a wormhole and can only reach Earth for limited stretches, but each visit lasts longer, allowing the couple to build a life through repeated returns.
