Eko learns that Charlie has a Virgin Mary statue and breaks it open, exposing the heroin inside to Claire. He demands that Charlie lead him to the crashed Nigerian plane. Along the way, they find the body of a man dressed as a priest, whose gold tooth Eko recognizes. While Charlie climbs a tree to find their route, a cloud of black smoke confronts Eko. He stands before it as images flicker within the smoke, and it eventually withdraws. At the wreck, Eko finds his brother Yemi's remains, takes his cross and burns the plane. Eko and Charlie recite the psalm together beside the flames.
Flashbacks show Eko killing a man to spare young Yemi from being forced to do it. Eko is taken by armed men and later becomes a violent trafficker, while Yemi becomes a priest. Eko pressures his brother into signing papers that allow him and his associates to pose as clergy and transport heroin concealed inside statues. Yemi tries to stop the departure, but soldiers arrive and shoot him. Eko places him aboard, only to be pushed off before the aircraft leaves. On the island, Claire rejects Charlie's apology and tells him to stay away from her and Aaron. Charlie adds another statue to his hidden collection. Michael secretly continues exchanging computer messages with someone he believes is Walt.
