Rhaenyra searches the coast near Storm's End for some trace of Lucerys and finds remains that make his death impossible to deny. Daemon wants an immediate attack on Vhagar, but Rhaenys refuses to act without their queen. In the north, Jacaerys seeks Cregan Stark's support before returning to Dragonstone. His formal report about the allies he has secured gives way to tears, and he and his mother mourn Luke together.
Aegon tries to settle into kingship by hearing petitions, while Otto restrains promises the crown cannot afford. Alicent struggles to keep her sons listening to cautious advice, and her secret relationship with Criston Cole continues behind closed doors. Aemond wants a more aggressive war and discusses military plans with Criston. Across the water, Rhaenyra gives her own council a single demand: she wants Aemond Targaryen, the man responsible for her son's death.
Daemon hires a former Gold Cloak and a ratcatcher to enter the Red Keep and kill Aemond. Their search takes them through the castle's passages, but they fail to find the prince. Instead, they confront Helaena beside her sleeping children and force her to identify her son. They murder Jaehaerys while Helaena escapes with her daughter Jaehaera. She reaches Alicent's room and reports what happened, finding her mother there with Criston.
