The Rogue Prince

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Six months after Aemma's death, Corlys Velaryon wants the crown to answer attacks on his ships in the Stepstones. Viserys resists starting a war with the Free Cities, and Rhaenyra's suggestion to use dragonriders earns her another task instead. Asked to choose a new Kingsguard knight, she selects Criston Cole for his fighting experience, despite Otto's preference for the political value of a noble family's support.

Daemon provokes the court from Dragonstone by stealing the egg once intended for Baelon and claiming that Mysaria is pregnant. Otto takes guards to demand its return, but Caraxes makes an armed confrontation dangerous. Rhaenyra arrives on Syrax and walks past the delegation to challenge her uncle herself. She offers him the chance to kill her if he truly wants her place. Daemon backs down and gives her the egg.

Viserys rebukes Rhaenyra for taking the risk, then admits that she settled the dispute without bloodshed. Their conversation briefly allows them to share their grief. The council also presses him to remarry, with Corlys offering his young daughter Laena as a match. Instead, Viserys announces that he will marry Alicent, shocking Rhaenyra and offending Corlys. The rejected lord turns to Daemon with an offer to fight the Crabfeeder together.
