Rhaenys reaches Dragonstone with news that Viserys is dead and Aegon has been crowned. Rhaenyra goes into premature labour and loses her child while Daemon begins preparing for war. At the funeral, Erryk Cargyll presents Viserys's crown and pledges his loyalty. Daemon crowns Rhaenyra, and those gathered recognise her as queen. She enters the council facing both a personal loss and the demand to answer the theft of her inheritance.
Otto offers terms that would let Rhaenyra keep Dragonstone if she accepts Aegon's rule. A page from the book she once shared with Alicent makes her hesitate, despite Daemon's anger. Rhaenyra wants to avoid a war fought with dragons, and their private argument reveals that Viserys never told Daemon about Aegon's prophecy. Corlys joins her cause after recovering from his wounds, bringing his fleet and support for a blockade of King's Landing.
Rhaenyra sends Jacaerys and Lucerys to seek allies, making them promise to act as messengers rather than fighters. Luke reaches Storm's End to find Aemond already offering Borros Baratheon a marriage alliance. Rejected by Borros, Luke tries to leave, but Aemond pursues him through the storm on Vhagar. Arrax attacks the larger dragon against Luke's commands, and Vhagar kills both Luke and his mount despite Aemond's efforts to stop her. Daemon brings the news to Rhaenyra.
