Dipper wants to spend time with Wendy and her teenage friends, so he claims that he is thirteen rather than twelve. Mabel comes along when the group heads to an abandoned convenience store. Inside, the teenagers treat the ruined shop as their private playground, while Mabel eats a forgotten candy called Smile Dip and falls into vivid hallucinations. Dipper notices unsettling signs but worries that admitting his fear will cost him Wendy's respect. Stan cannot help: back at the Shack, he is absorbed in a television drama. The visit becomes dangerous when an unseen force starts punishing the teenagers and blocks their escape.
Friends disappear into store fixtures, and the ghosts of its former owners, Ma and Pa Duskerton, reveal themselves. Dipper and Wendy work through the pattern behind the attacks. Texting, sarcasm and video games have angered the ghosts because they associate those habits with teenagers, whom they blame for their deaths. Dipper abandons his lie and admits that he is still twelve. The owners treat him differently and offer to free his friends if he performs a childish dance. He accepts the embarrassment and does the Lamby Lamby routine in costume. Everyone gets out alive. Wendy protects his dignity by giving her friends a more flattering account of the rescue and invites him to hang out again.
