A Golden Crown

Contains spoilers for this episode and earlier episodes.

Robert restores Ned as Hand and leaves him to govern while the king goes hunting. Hearing that Gregor Clegane has attacked villages in the Riverlands, Ned sends Beric Dondarrion to bring him to justice and summons Tywin Lannister to court. Ned plans to send his daughters home. Sansa's insistence that Joffrey is unlike Robert sends him back to Arryn's book, where the Baratheons' dark hair makes Joffrey's parentage look impossible.

At the Eyrie, Tyrion persuades his jailer to carry a message asking to confess. Before Lysa's court, he admits to assorted misdeeds but denies the murders he is accused of arranging. He demands trial by combat, and Bronn volunteers as his champion. Bronn defeats Lysa's armoured knight and sends him through the Moon Door, winning Tyrion's release. Near Winterfell, Robb and Theon rescue Bran from attackers and take Osha prisoner.

Daenerys completes the stallion-heart ceremony and names her unborn son Rhaego, winning the Dothraki crowd's approval. Viserys tries to take the dragon eggs, but Jorah stops him. Later, a drunken Viserys draws his sword in the sacred city and threatens Daenerys and her child unless Drogo delivers his promised crown. Drogo has him restrained and melts gold in a pot. He pours it over Viserys's head, killing him as Daenerys watches.
