Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Frasier Crane returns to Seattle to host a call-in radio advice show after his marriage ends. His plans for an elegant bachelor apartment change when his injured father Martin moves in, bringing his dog Eddie and a battered recliner. Daphne Moon joins the household as Martin’s live-in physical therapist. At KACL, producer Roz Doyle challenges Frasier’s self-importance, while his psychiatrist brother Niles shares his expensive tastes and develops an attraction to Daphne despite being married to Maris.
Frasier’s efforts to improve family life repeatedly expose his own impatience. Replacing Martin’s chair forces him to retrieve it from a school production. A Winnebago holiday takes the family into Canada before Daphne has her green card. The brothers attempt a psychology book about siblings, but cannot agree on an opening sentence and end up fighting. Martin invents a story about losing a police partner after a quarrel to bring them back together.
Professional confidence proves equally fragile. When Frasier falls ill, Niles fills in successfully; Frasier becomes jealous, rushes to the station and locks Roz and Niles out before broadcasting in a delirium. By the finale, the brothers sit at Café Nervosa considering what the first year in Seattle has brought. Niles acknowledges that he may have feelings for Daphne, and Frasier considers whether he is happy with the life he has built around his family and radio work.
