Season synopsis
Contains spoilers for this season and earlier seasons.
Larry is a white lion performing in Siegfried and Roy’s Las Vegas show, with a family life that offers little relief from the pressure of being its star. His wife Kate tries to establish an identity beyond looking after him and their children, rebellious teenager Sierra and younger son Hunter. Kate’s father Sarmoti, the former lead lion, resents being replaced by his son-in-law. Larry’s gopher friend Snack adds to the trouble among the animals living in the magicians’ Secret Garden.
The season moves through separate domestic and backstage misadventures. Larry and Kate interfere with a breeding arrangement for lonely panda Foo-Lin, while exaggerated publicity for Larry’s stage debut leaves him desperate for Sarmoti’s advice. When Larry fails to impress Hunter’s class on career day, he claims to know visiting film star Donkey and promises an appearance. Finding catnip in Sierra’s bedroom sets off another parenting panic. Sierra’s political concerns also draw Larry into freeing Emerson, a restaurant lobster whose revolutionary ambitions make his rescue more complicated than expected.
Larry tries to revive his marriage’s spontaneity by stealing a rival couple’s television, turning an attempt at romance into a crime problem. An exaggerated rehearsal injury gives him time off until Sarmoti makes resting unbearable. Kate’s campaign for PTA president becomes a struggle to repair an insult to the turkey community, and Sarmoti’s move into the family home creates another dispute over his treasured zebra rug. After Larry forgets his anniversary, he crosses the Nevada desert with Sarmoti to find Kate on a spa trip. The family’s arguments continue alongside the daily demands of the Vegas act.
