Dae-young refuses to leave Shi-jin alone on the rescue. He gives his identification tags to the recovering Myung-joo and brings the rest of Alpha Team to help. Inside Agus's compound, Shi-jin discovers the missing children as well as Mo-yeon. The team protects the children while confronting Agus, who has placed explosives on Mo-yeon. Shi-jin shoots the device on her shoulder, and the soldiers remove the vest just before it explodes. Agus survives the first exchange of gunfire and threatens them again. Shi-jin shields Mo-yeon, covers her eyes and kills his former comrade before taking her back to the base.
Returning safely does not end the strain between the couple. Mo-yeon questions the reassurances and jokes that have hidden dangerous situations from her. She later chooses to stay with Shi-jin and asks for a clear signal when he is heading into danger. As the doctors prepare to leave Uruk, Myung-joo continues recovering and Chi-hoon receives his negative result from the survivor whose forgiveness matters to him. Mo-yeon arranges a stable home for Fatima with the bartender. Shi-jin returns the beach stone to Mo-yeon, and they promise to spend ordinary time together in Korea before the doctors arrive back at their hospital.
