Season synopsis

Chuck remains the human home for the Intersect, but this season’s missions bring him closer to learning who sent the database and why. Sarah and Casey keep guarding him while he tries to preserve a normal relationship with Ellie, Devon and Morgan. A CIA test of Chuck and Sarah’s partnership introduces agent Alex Forrest, and Chuck’s old romance with Jill Roberts resurfaces before he discovers her connection to Fulcrum. When his long-absent father returns, Chuck learns that Steve Bartowski is Orion, the elusive programmer who built the Intersect. The reunion gives Chuck a chance to ask for the device to be removed, but it also draws father and son into a fight with software magnate Ted Roark, whose free operating system conceals a Fulcrum plan.
Chuck and Jill try to find Orion at Fulcrum’s headquarters, but the organization has moved him. Casey is promoted and ordered to close loose ends as Chuck and Sarah go off-book to search for Steve. During the rescue, the team learns Roark intends to create a Fulcrum force using a new Intersect; Devon is finally let into Chuck’s secret so he can help protect Ellie. Steve and the team escape, and Steve uses the new system to remove the original Intersect from Chuck, briefly offering him an exit from spy life. At Ellie and Devon’s wedding, Roark arrives with armed Fulcrum agents and demands the new Intersect control cube. Casey’s colleague Miles turns on the team, and Bryce dies after warning Chuck that the new system is dangerous. Chuck chooses to download it, gaining combat skills that let him defeat Miles’s men and save Sarah and Casey. The season closes with the Ring, a powerful organization behind the attack, now an active threat.
