The Queen of Spain's Beard

Contains spoilers for this episode.

Richard IV needs a marriage alliance with Spain to support his plans against France. Harry's many existing engagements make him unavailable, so Edmund becomes the chosen bridegroom. Recent romantic humiliation has made Edmund swear off women, but the prospect of a beautiful Spanish princess quickly changes his mind. Meeting Infanta Maria Escalosa and her inseparable interpreter changes it back, leaving him desperate to avoid the following day's wedding.

Baldrick suggests persuading the Infanta that Edmund prefers men. Edmund dresses accordingly, only for his father to mistake him for the Earl of Doncaster and his bride to interpret the costume as a flattering Spanish tribute. He then tries marrying a peasant woman first. That ceremony falls apart when her existing husband appears with a scythe. Sending Baldrick into the Infanta's bedroom produces bruises for the servant and another failed excuse: Richard already knows about her sexual experience and considers Edmund's virginity sufficient.

The Spanish wedding finally begins, and Edmund runs out of ways to stop it. A messenger saves him by announcing a sudden alliance between Spain, France and Switzerland. Richard immediately rejects the Infanta and switches his diplomatic hopes to Hungary. Edmund welcomes the description of his replacement bride until Princess Leia appears and proves to be a child. The marriage proceeds anyway, and his wedding night consists of reading her a fairy tale and attending to bedtime requests.
