Spoilers for this episode.
Bierko prepares to launch the Natalia's missiles at populated areas while Jack and Henderson reach the dock with a small team. Air support cannot arrive before the launch, but a distress signal reveals surviving engineer Tim Rooney aboard the submarine. Jack guides Rooney toward the guarded entry hatch. Rooney kills the guard and opens the way for Jack's team, then creates a diversion that draws Bierko away from the control room.
Henderson works to cancel the launch while Jack fights the remaining terrorists. Jack kills Bierko, and Henderson stops the countdown seconds before the missiles fire. Afterward, Henderson points his borrowed gun at Jack and pulls the trigger, only to discover it is empty. Jack shoots him dead and tells CTU that Henderson fired on him. With the submarine secured, Jack privately asks Chloe for help confronting Logan instead of returning to headquarters.
Martha brings Novick to Aaron and explains her husband's part in the conspiracy. Novick accepts that Logan must face justice and helps Aaron leave the retreat. Jack asks them to delay Logan's departure so he can reach the presidential helicopter. Chloe brings in her former husband Morris to modify communications equipment for the attempt. Martha pretends to reconcile with Logan and persuades him to stay alone with her, while Aaron gets Jack into the Secret Service outbuilding.
