CTU's surviving staff search the wreckage for colleagues while Kim takes a convulsing Megan to hospital. Tony finds Paula alive beneath debris, but the team also needs her decryption information to recover its nuclear investigation files. Mason returns and insists that medics revive her before moving her to surgery. Jack turns on Eddie's crew after the bombing, kills them in a fight and uses the information he obtained to find Joseph Wald at his house.
Jack tells Wald that the CTU attack helped terrorists planning a nuclear explosion, but Wald retreats into a reinforced room. Jack cannot break through and argues that Wald must choose whether innocent people die. At the hospital, doctors tell Kim that Megan's injuries suggest continuing abuse and notify the police. Kim calls Carla, who repeats Gary's kidnapping accusation. Kim pushes her to acknowledge his violence and come to the hospital to help explain what happened to Megan.
Kate tells Bob about Reza's suspected connection to Syed Ali, but her father says his own background check cleared Reza. A frightening detour with Reza ends at the house he has bought for Marie. Palmer discovers why CTU received so little warning and fires Rayburn for withholding Jack's message. Wald finally unlocks his refuge, hands Jack photographs of the person who supplied the CTU information and shoots himself. The photographs identify Nina Myers, the woman who murdered Teri.
