Plan Around the Wyrdness
On this page
The publisher describes Avalon in everlasting autumn, with one sharp exception: at night the Wyrdness, a chaotic primordial force, descends on the land, altering reality and introducing survival challenges.
The world changes at night
Altering reality is a big claim to make about a night cycle. Whether that means changed routes, changed encounters or both, the store is clear that the same location is a different problem after dark, which makes when you travel a real decision.
Enemies stop giving second chances
Foes are described as becoming fiercer at night, and the publisher’s own line is kill or be killed. That turns the night into a test of preparation: the potions, throwables and mixtures you brewed in daylight are what you actually fight with.
Use daylight for the slow work
The store lists a large set of supporting activities, including journaling, fishing, farming, blacksmithing, alchemy, cooking, mining and managing your house. Those are daylight tasks: they feed the character that has to survive the night.
Respect the three zones
Avalon spans the Horns of the South, Cuanacht Village and the Forlorn Swords, each packed with quests, NPCs and items. Because the night changes reality, learning a zone in daylight before you push it after dark is the safer order.
The build that survives the night is covered in attributes, skills and gear, and the fight itself in switching weapons inside the fight.
