Explore Cyrodiil Before the Gates Open

On this page

Remastered Oblivion is a journey through the rich world of Tamriel, and it is also a battle across the planes of Oblivion, with the Daedric invasion giving the travelling its purpose.

Cyrodiil is the first job

A comparison of Oblivion Remastered's two settings: Cyrodiil as the landscape to explore, and the planes of Oblivion as the battle the Daedric invasion forces on you.
The province and the gates are the same trip. Open the full image.

The store’s first instruction is to explore the vast landscape of Cyrodiil like never before. Treating the province as the real content rather than a corridor between quest markers changes how a session is structured, and it is exactly what the recreated handcrafted detail is aimed at.

Then the planes of Oblivion

Battling across the planes of Oblivion is named as part of the same journey, and stopping the forces of Oblivion from overtaking the land is the stated goal. Knowing the invasion is the spine of the game makes it easier to judge when to push the main story and when to keep wandering.

One package, every expansion

Because Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine and additional downloadable content are already included, the long tail of Oblivion’s story is available on the same run. That is the strongest argument for a leisurely first visit rather than a sprint to the ending and a restart.

How this release differs from the 2006 original is set out in what a remaster actually changes, and the character you bring along is covered in building any character you can name.
