Train a Mount for the Long Roads

On this page

Aeternum is described as a massive world of wilderness and ruins, and the publisher lists mounts among its features: horses, dire wolves and lions, each with a unique look, dyeable equipment and a name you set.

The mount is a character choice

Four mount notes for New World: Aeternum: choose a horse, wolf or lion, customise it, level Riding, and use the upgrades.
Four things that make the island smaller. Open the full image.

Three mount types with distinct looks, dyeable gear and custom names is more customisation than a travel toggle. Treating the mount as part of how your character appears is what the store implies by listing it beside character appearance.

Riding is a trade skill

Level up your Riding Trade Skill is the described progression, with upgrades including increased speeds, buffs and higher tier consumable food. Because it is a trade skill, the benefit compounds the same way other gathering and crafting skills do.

Fast travel changes the game

On an island described as filled with danger and opportunity, moving quickly determines how much you can do per session. Worth doing early rather than after the map has become routine.

What you carry when you arrive matters more than how you got there, so read building around weapons and powers and starting from an archetype.
