Lords of the Fallen: First-Hours Progression

Make the first route a series of returns
The early game moves from the tutorial through Abandoned Redcopse, the Pieta encounter, and Skyrest Bridge before it opens into more branching territory. The useful rhythm is simple: push one unknown branch, unlock a shortcut or collect a clear upgrade, then return to a Vestige or Skyrest to spend Vigor and check conversations. Repeating a long corpse run for an item you do not yet understand is rarely the fastest way to learn the region.
Use the lamp at every suspicious wall, gap, or blocked route. Many side paths are visible only through Umbral, but that does not mean every lamp check should become a full Umbral crossing. Look first, commit only when the route has a destination, and know where an Emergence Effigy or Vestige can get you out. Your first Axiom death grants a chance in Umbral; do not spend that second life on a blind detour if a recovery route is already difficult.
Use difficulty as routing information
| If this happens | Try this next |
|---|---|
| A group repeatedly drains healing | Pull the outside enemy first, find a side route, or return after one reinforcement step. |
| A path ends at a wall or gap | Raise the lamp and scan the same geometry before assuming it is locked forever. |
| You arrive in Umbral unexpectedly | Prioritise an exit or checkpoint instead of collecting every visible item. |
| You unlock a hub service or NPC dialogue | Return to Skyrest after the next milestone, not only after a defeat. |
The main route eventually branches in ways that interact with beacons, NPCs, and endings. This guide avoids presenting one ending path as the default or claiming a full completion sequence. Keep named quest items, talk through hub dialogue, and use Skyrest Bridge Services after each major boss. It covers the 2023 game; post-launch modes and patch-specific checkpoint layouts are outside this first-hours route.
