Lies of P Weapon Assembly: Blades, Handles and Moonstones
On this page
Two parts, two jobs
After meeting Geppetto, you can assemble normal weapons through Eugenie or a Stargazer. Their two parts carry different properties:
| Part | What follows it |
|---|---|
| Blade | Base damage profile, reach, weight, guard performance, durability and blade Fable Art |
| Handle | Moveset, Motivity/Technique/Advance scaling and handle Fable Art |
The final attack speed and recovery come from the complete pairing. Putting a heavy blade on a quick handle does not preserve the original handle’s speed unchanged, so test light, heavy and charged attacks before committing.
Special weapons are the exception. They are fixed weapons, cannot be separated into blade and handle, and follow their own upgrade path.
Check attack compatibility
Assembly permits many unusual combinations, but permitted does not always mean effective. Blades are suited to slash attacks, stab attacks or both, while handles define the motions the weapon performs. A blade that is poor at the handle’s attack type loses damage on those motions.
Read the attack-type indicators in the assembly screen. The current game also displays a warning when a proposed weapon would perform certain attacks ineffectively. If the warning appears, compare the actual moveset and damage before spending resources.
Upgrade the blade, tune the handle
Normal weapon upgrades apply to the blade. That Moonstone investment stays with the blade when you move it to a different compatible handle, so you can change movesets without rebuilding the same blade from zero. Handles use Cranks to alter attribute scaling; they are not upgraded with the blade’s Moonstones.
Special weapons use separate Covenant Moonstones and still cannot be disassembled. This makes a safe early plan:
- Choose a normal blade whose damage profile, reach and guard rating suit you.
- Try it on handles that match both your preferred moveset and your main attribute.
- Reject combinations with poor slash-or-stab compatibility.
- Upgrade the blade you intend to keep; use a Crank only when its handle scaling supports your build.
Use P’s Grinder to maintain durability during a fight. Special Grindstones and consumable Abrasives apply temporary effects; they do not replace the blade upgrade path. See Getting Started for Guard Regain and Legion Arms and Quartz for the other loadout systems.
