Climb It and Cut It Apart
On this page
Dark Arisen’s combat is described as dynamic in a literal sense: the store lists cutting the four heads off a Hydra, climbing atop griffins, and fighting enemies in the air.
Find the weakness
Defeating dragons and other creatures by finding out their weaknesses is the store’s own framing, and it puts the emphasis on reading a monster before you commit to it. That is a different habit from memorising a damage rotation, and it is the one the combat is built to reward.
Climb the thing you are fighting
Climbing atop griffins and fighting airborne is named as an option, alongside severing parts of a large enemy. Because those moves put you on the monster rather than beside it, position becomes part of the fight in a way that a flat arena never asks for.
The underground is the harder test
A huge underground realm full of terrifying monsters is listed as part of the package, next to the Dark Arisen expansion content and a set of new achievements. Treating that realm as where you test a build rather than as bonus content explains why the store tells you to get ready to delve deep into Bitterblack Isle.
Who fights with you is covered in training three Pawns that fight alone. What you bring to the fight is covered in picking from nine vocations.
