We'll meet again
Molly Lasch pleaded guilty to manslaughter rather than stand trial for murdering her husband, a respected doctor, and served her sentence.
About
We'll Meet Again is a novel by the American writer Mary Higgins Clark, published in 1999.
Molly was married to Gary Lasch, the founder of a health maintenance organisation, and she learned before his death that he was having an affair with one of his nurses. When he was found beaten to death with a statue she was standing over the body with no memory of what had happened, and pleading guilty to a lesser charge was the way to avoid the possibility of a much longer sentence. Now she is out, and her insistence on her innocence has made her unpopular with the police and interesting to the press. Her college friend Fran Simons begins investigating, and the two of them find that the dead man's business and his private life both contained things nobody wanted examined.
The novel is one of a long line of suspense stories by its author in which a woman's account of the truth is not believed by anybody until the last pages, and the reader is allowed to see more than the police do.
