War of the Twins
Raistlin Majere arrives at the Tower of High Sorcery in Palanthas to claim what belongs to the master of that tower, with his brother Caramon and the cleric Crysania beside him.
About
War of the Twins is a fantasy novel by the American writers Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, published in 1986. It is the second novel of the Dragonlance Legends trilogy, and it follows the twins Raistlin and Caramon Majere along with Crysania and Tasslehoff Burrfoot.
At the tower in Palanthas, Raistlin is tried by its undead guardians to prove that he is the master of the place, and he passes the test because he has already defeated the wizard Fistandantilus and absorbed his soul, which has left him far more powerful than he was. He then goes to find the portal to the Abyss, which he needs in order to become a god, and discovers that it is not where he expected it to be.
Once he has been told where the portal has moved, the group travels back into the past, to the Dwarfgate Wars about a hundred years after the Cataclysm, and the novel follows them through that period. Caramon, who left home to stop his brother, finds himself helping him return to his own time instead.
