Valley of Silence
In the kingdom of Geall, the scholarly Moira has taken up the sword of her people and, as queen, has to prepare them for the greatest battle they will ever fight.
About
Valley of Silence is a novel by Nora Roberts, published in 2006 and the third part of a trilogy that moves between the present day and the kingdom of Geall. Its central figure is Moira, who is a scholar by training and has become the queen of her people.
Moira takes up the sword as well as the crown. The battle she has to prepare Geall for is the largest her people have faced, and the enemy is Lilith, described as the most powerful vampire in the world, who has followed the circle of six through time into Geall so that the fight happens on her ground. The circle of six has followed the same enemy to Geall, so the fighting happens on the ground Moira rules.
The war is also personal. Vampires killed Moira's mother and she intends to settle that account, which is complicated by Cian, a vampire who was changed by Lilith centuries ago, now stands with the circle and kills others of his kind without hesitation. The novel sets her revenge against the one vampire she would trust with her life.
