UnWholly
Unwinding is legal: difficult teenagers can be taken apart, and their organs and limbs given to other people.
About
UnWholly is a novel by the American writer Neal Shusterman, published in 2012 and the second book of his Unwind series.
The book is set in a country where a legal settlement allows the parents of a difficult teenager to have the child taken apart so that the parts can be used for transplant, an arrangement that has made a great deal of medical treatment possible and a great many people complicit. Connor, Lev and Risa survived the revolt at the Happy Jack Harvest Camp and became the visible proof that the practice is what its defenders say it is not, and they spend this novel fugitives, hunted and used by people with agendas of their own. Shusterman adds a character assembled out of the parts of many unwound teenagers, which gives the book a way of asking what a person is, and the series is written as a social argument carried by a chase.
The novel continues the story begun in Unwind and was followed by further volumes in the same sequence.
