Meeting Torr Latime is the last thing Abby Lyndon expected from a Japanese flower-arranging class, and he is dynamic, good-looking and better at arrangements than she is.

About

Uneasy Alliance is a Harlequin Temptation romance by Jayne Ann Krentz, published in the 1980s and later reissued by MIRA at 249 pages.

Abby Lyndon meets Torr Latime at a Japanese flower-arranging class, which is an unlikely place for a man to arrive and be better at the discipline than she is, and the meeting happens while she is under threat from a stalker. Torr learns of the danger and offers protection, moving her to a secluded cabin. The novel then works on the intimacy that a hiding place produces, since the isolation that keeps her safe also removes every ordinary restraint. Krentz keeps the threat personal, since the person following Abby is the reason for the cabin rather than a puzzle the couple has to solve.

The book comes from the early part of Krentz's career, when she was writing category romance with suspense elements for Harlequin and its lines. Her later work extended the same combination of a capable man, a woman in danger and a self-contained romantic story, and this is one of the earlier shapes of that formula.
