The Viking's Woman
Rhiannon is King Alfred's favourite niece, and she is furious when he seals an alliance by promising her to Eric, a Norse prince with a cold manner and an army behind him.
About
The Viking's Woman is a historical romance by the American writer Heather Graham, published in 1993 and the second of her Viking novels.
Rhiannon is the niece of King Alfred and has been given to Eric, a Norse prince, as part of an alliance between the English and the Norse against their common enemies. She has no wish to marry him and says so, which is the beginning of a marriage in which the two of them spend most of their time testing each other. Eric is a warrior who has been given a wife as part of an arrangement neither of them chose, and the novel follows what happens when the politics that produced the marriage keep changing around them. Graham wrote the book as a companion to Golden Surrender, and the same family and the same period of fighting between the English kingdoms and the Norse are in the background of both.
It is the second of her Viking novels, and the two books follow the same Norse family through the same years of war.
