About
The Rules of Wolfe is a crime novel by the American writer James Carlos Blake, published in 2013.
Eddie Gato Wolfe is a young and impetuous member of the Wolfe family of Texas gun-runners, a business that has gone on for generations. He is increasingly unfulfilled by the minor part he plays in the family's operations and eager to set out on his own, so he crosses the border into Mexico and takes work providing security for a major drug cartel led by the ruthless La Navaja.
In Mexico he falls for a woman called Miranda, and he learns too late that she is the property of someone close to La Navaja. When the two of them are discovered, the violence that follows forces them to run, and they flee into the Sonora Desert hoping to cross the border to safety.
La Navaja has a long reach and an appetite for revenge to match it, and he sends a crowd of his operatives after the pair, along with a bounty hunter known as El Martillo. The desert may kill Eddie and Miranda before the cartel's men reach them, which leaves Eddie with only one place to turn: the family he walked away from.
