The Night Parade
A disease called Wanderer's Folly has been spreading for two years, filling people's heads with delusions until the world begins to come apart.
About
The Night Parade is a horror novel by the American writer Ronald Malfi, published in 2016.
The plague at the centre of the book is called Wanderer's Folly: a sickness of daydreams and nightmares that has been spreading for two years and threatens to end the human race. The birds went first, then the insects took over, then the madness began. David Arlen wakes up one morning believing that the worst of it is behind him, and before the day is finished he is bleeding, his wife is dead and he is on the road in a stolen car with his daughter Ellie. Ellie is perceptive beyond her years, and she knows that her father is lying to her about her mother, about what is following them and about what he sees when he takes his eyes off the road.
The novel is a chase as well as a horror story.
