The Last Hope

The Last Hope is a fantasy novel for young readers by the American author Erin Hunter, published in 2012. It is the sixth and final book of the Omen of the Stars arc in the Warriors series, which is written by a team of authors under a shared pen name.

The Clans are groups of wild cats living in territories with their own borders, ranks and codes, and the series follows several generations of them. This book arrives at the end of an arc in which the clans have been undermined by training that takes place after death, in the Dark Forest, where an army has been assembled for one purpose.

The prophecy that has run through the arc says that three must become four before the darkness can be fought, and the three named cats, Jayfeather, Dovewing and Lionblaze, are preparing to lead their Clanmates while they wait for the fourth. The novel is the last of the arc, so its story is the one in which the promise has to be kept or lost.
