The Halfling's Gem
Drizzt Do'Urden and Wulfgar are racing the assassin Artemis Entreri across the sea to Calimport, where their friend Regis is being held captive along with the panther Guenhwyvar and the gem that started all of it.
About
The Halfling's Gem is a fantasy novel by the American writer R. A. Salvatore, published in 1990. It is the third book of The Icewind Dale Trilogy.
The dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden and the barbarian Wulfgar are hurrying to Calimport to get their friend Regis away from the assassin Artemis Entreri, along with Drizzt's magical panther Guenhwyvar. Regis had stolen a hypnotising gem from Pasha Pook, the employer he betrayed, and the gem, the panther and Regis himself are the reasons the chase is happening at all.
Bruenor, the dwarf, is not dead as everyone believed. After he jumped onto the back of the dragon Shimmergloom he survived the fall and the fire because he was holding Drizzt's scimitar, Icingdeath, and he climbed back up to the surface afterwards and fought his way through the duergar below it. The novel brings the companions back together on the road to Calimport, and Salvatore went on to write about the same characters in the Dark Elf trilogy and in many later books.
