The Final Battle

The Final Battle is the sixth book in the later arc of the Survivors series, written under the name Erin Hunter and published in 2019. It follows Storm, a dog whose place among the packs has never been secure.

Storm has identified the dog who has been sabotaging her former Pack, and when she returns from exile she walks directly into the trap that has been waiting for her. She begins the book as a prisoner in the Wild Pack's camp, in a situation she cannot fight her way out of, and the dogs around her are divided about whether she belongs there at all. The traitor is still working from inside the camp, her remaining allies are few, and the time she has to stop what has been set in motion is running out.

The series is narrated from the dogs' point of view, with its own pack law, rivalries and ideas about loyalty, so the conflict stays personal even while the group is fighting for its existence. This volume returns the story to the question of who can be trusted in a pack that has already been broken once.
