The Daylight War
On the night of the new moon the demons rise in force, and what they are looking for is two men, either of whom might turn out to be the Deliverer of prophecy.
About
The Daylight War is a fantasy novel by the American writer Peter V. Brett, released on 12 February 2013. It is the third book of the Demon Cycle series.
The premise it works from is a prophecy: that a Deliverer will come and reunite the remnants of humanity for a final push against the demons. Two men have the potential to be that figure, and the night of the new moon is when the demons come for them in force. The demons are looking for both of them.
The novel was nominated for the David Gemmell Award. Reviewers were divided on how much of it was borrowed from elsewhere in the genre, but many of them found it enjoyable, and it was praised for its character work.
It continues a series that began with The Warded Man and that Brett has said follows a particular structure, with the books that came before leading into it. The volumes that follow bring the sequence to its close, and the series runs to five books.
