The Court of the Dead
Nico di Angelo and Will Solace return from Tartarus and travel to Camp Jupiter, where Hazel Levesque needs help with a problem they caused: the monsters of the Underworld have learned that they have options and some have come to the camp seeking refuge.
About
The Court of the Dead is a middle-grade fantasy novel in the world of Percy Jackson, published in 2025, and it continues the story of Nico di Angelo and Will Solace.
A few months after the events of the previous book, Nico and Will answer a request from Nico's half-sister Hazel Levesque and travel to Camp Jupiter on the West Coast. The situation there is partly their own doing. Their journey through the Underworld showed its monsters that they have choices and do not have to be evil, and some of those creatures have moved into the camp to look for refuge from a life of being hunted. The two of them are assisting Hazel with the practical difficulties this creates when the monsters begin vanishing, one at a time, taken by a dark force whose intention is to punish them for their past crimes. The mystery deepens when Nico, Will and Hazel discover that all three of them are connected to whatever is doing the taking.
Riordan writes adventure stories that use Greek and Roman myth as a working system, and this book is unusual in making the monsters the people whose protection matters.
