The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires
Iris Scanlon runs the only daytime concierge service for vampires in Half-Moon Hollow, which means letting in plumbers and picking up chilled blood for clients who cannot go out in daylight.
About
The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires is a paranormal romance by the American writer Molly Harper, published in 2012. It is set in Half-Moon Hollow, a small town in which a vampire population lives alongside the human one without most people knowing about it.
Iris Scanlon's business consists of doing the things in daylight that her clients cannot do for themselves, from opening the door for a tradesman to collecting supplies that the ordinary shops do not stock. She has built the arrangement on a set of firm rules about what she will and will not do, and the most important of them is that relationships with vampires are business and nothing else.
Her newest client, a man called Cal, is found poisoned in his own kitchen, and he has nobody else to turn to. He offers her a considerable amount of money to let him stay at her house while he works out who wants him dead, and against her own better judgement she agrees, on the understanding that he is her employer rather than her guest. He is imperious, unhelpful about the difference between an employee and a servant, and the arrangement does not stay professional for very long.
