The Apprentice's Quest

The Apprentice's Quest is a novel for younger readers by Erin Hunter, published in 2016 and set in the world of the Warriors books.

The story is set among the clans of wild cats that share the land around a lake, each with its own territory, leaders and warrior code. The clans have been at peace for several seasons, but the omens have changed and the medicine cats are warning that something is coming which the warriors have no experience of. A prophecy is given to a young apprentice, and what it asks of him takes him outside the boundaries the clans have spent generations defending and into country that no cat has described. The novel is written from inside the clan system, where a young cat is expected to learn hunting, fighting and the rules of the warrior code before anything else, and it begins a sequence in which the clans have to deal with a threat that arrives from beyond their own territories.

Erin Hunter is the shared pen name used for the Warriors books, which follow the same clans across several series.
