Spell of the Highlander

Spell of the Highlander is a romance by the American writer Karen Marie Moning, published in 2005.

Cian MacKeltar has been held inside a looking glass for centuries by an enemy who wanted him out of the way, and Jessi's curiosity sets him loose in a modern city where nothing he knows applies. He is a warrior with a talent for magic and a great deal of pride, and she is a student with a practical mind and a gift for languages; the novel moves them around at speed while the people who lost the mirror try to take it back. Moning mixes the time-travel and paranormal conventions with a long-running family of Scottish immortals, and the series rests on the idea that the same men keep reappearing in different centuries. The romance and the chase are the same plot.

It is part of the author's Highlander series, and each book follows a different member of the same family, with a modern heroine who has to make sense of the past and of a man who does not belong in her century.
