Merit is a graduate student in Chicago until a rogue vampire attacks her and only gets a sip before another vampire drives him off and saves her life by turning her.
About
Some Girls Bite is a paranormal romance by the American writer Chloe Neill, published in 2009 as the opening book of the Chicagoland Vampires series. It begins with its heroine's plans for an ordinary academic career being interrupted by an attack in the street.
Merit is a graduate student in Chicago, going about her life, when a rogue vampire attacks her. He only gets a sip before another vampire drives him off, and that second one decides the only way to save her is to turn her. Her rescuer turns out to be the master of Cadogan House.
She wakes into a world of vampire houses with their own rules, obligations and feuds, living in a Hyde Park mansion full of Cadogan vampires and answering to Ethan Sullivan, its four-hundred-year-old lord, who expects gratitude and service. The novel spends its time on the arrangements between the houses and on a heroine who resents being told what her new life requires of her, and someone is still trying to kill her.
