Snow bride
Lissa and Jarret have agreed to a marriage that lasts five years and no longer.
About
Snow Bride is a romance novel by the British writer Margery Hilton, issued by Mills & Boon in this printing of 190 pages.
The marriage at the centre of the book was arranged rather than chosen. Lissa's father owed money, Jarret had a daughter who needed looking after, and the two of them agreed to a union that would end after five years, at which point they would separate and go their own ways. Lissa holds to the terms of the agreement, which is why she seems as cold towards her husband as the weather on their wedding day, and Jarret assumes that her manner is what she feels. The arrangement holds until Emma vanishes, and at that point the terms the two of them have been observing have to be set aside.
