Royal Holiday

Royal Holiday is a romantic comedy by Jasmine Guillory, published in 2019. It begins with Vivian Forest being invited along on her daughter's work trip to England, where Maddie has been engaged to style a member of the royal family.

Vivian accepts because she wants the holiday and the chance to look at the country, and the arrangement is straightforward until she meets Malcolm Hudson. He is a private secretary, and what attracts her is the combination of his accent and his unyielding formality.

Malcolm has never given a personal private tour in his time with the royals, and it is Vivian who makes him break that habit: he begins finding excuses to spend time with her. The novel follows the two of them through a holiday neither of them planned for.

It is a holiday romance in which the formality of the setting is the obstacle rather than the attraction, and it follows two sensible adults behaving in a way neither of them would have predicted. Neither of them is looking for a holiday romance, which is what makes it work.
